About IUD (Mirena or Copper) Insertion
Dr Alba Spina and Dr Angela Wang are trained in intrauterine device (IUD) insertion and are available to consult with you whether an IUD is a suitable option for you. In most cases, IUD insertion can be done at Holland Park Family Medical Practice, with only a small number of patients requiring referral to Gynaecological Services for placement.
If you would like to discuss whether an IUD is appropriate for you, please book an appointment with Dr Spina or Dr Wang. If you require a Pap Test or additional medical care at the same visit, please book a longer appointment to ensure there is enough time to address everything thoroughly.
If you have already discussed an IUD with Dr Spina or Dr Wang and are booking an appointment for insertion, please contact reception directly and advise that it is for an IUD insertion. This allows us to ensure the nurse’s room is reserved and a nurse is available for your procedure.
Please remember to bring your IUD to the appointment and arrange care for your children during the appointment. It is advised you do not drive for 30 minutes after the procedure.
Payment is required on the day of the procedure, please see below for schedule of fees.
